1 day Paddlesport Leader Award Assessment

The Paddlesport Leader is aimed at paddlers who wish to lead groups of mixed craft on both wind affected and slow moving sheltered water.

This 1 day paddlesport leader assessment will qualify you to run trips in mixed craft on both wind affected and slow moving sheltered water.

Assessment

The assessment can be run over 1 or 2 days (we typically run it over 1 day unless specifically asked for a 2 day assessment) depend on the course ratios and logistics relating to access to suitable environments.

In order to achieve the qualification you need to show competence in the following elements: Participant focused leadership skills Personal paddling skills Rescue skills Underpinning background knowledge, understanding and experience.

Upon completion of the Assessment, the course provider will submit successful participants for certification.

We can supply additional craft for the assessment as all 4 types of craft are needed:

Kayak (Closed cockpit)
Canoe
Sit-on-top (SOT)
Paddleboard (SUP)

Personal Equipment

At this level of assessment, you would be require to have all of your own personal paddling equipment:

Personal Craft (Kayak / Canoe / Sit-on-top / Paddleboard)
Personal equipment

Participant Equipment

You would need to inform the Participants under your Instruction of their equipment needs, and be able to provide them with spares etc.

Choose to collect your order on a course (free of charge) and your instructor will have it ready and waiting for you when you arrive.

Participants

Please note you will be required to provide 2-3 participants with the appropriate level of experience to be taught and guided on this award and environment.

ITC 2 day Outdoor First Aid course I attended the 16hr/2 day ITC Outdoor First Aid course, delivered by highly experienced paramedic Donna and hosted by Hatt, and was really impressed with the standard of instruction. This 2 day course offered a great mix of practical and classroom learning. The qualification is essential for my work but would highly recommend to anyone planning to go adventuring off the beaten track.

Amazing Rock Climbing Experience This was a 50th birthday present, having not climbed outdoors since school! It ended up being an absolutley superb day out at Harrison's Rocks, great location & lovely sunny weather. Andy is a fantastic guide - friendly, experienced and a great instructor. Kayaking the River Ouse, just try it! Most amazing day kayaking on the River Ouse middle. So many elements of the trip to experience from gentle to unexpected and sometimes challenging. Charity Fundraising Abseil Event We (The Fox Project) recently organised a fundraising abseil event in collaboration with Hatt Adventures, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The professionalism and expertise demonstrated by their team were truly impressive. They provided all the necessary equipment and ensured that every aspect of the event ran smoothly.On the day of the abseil, we were met by an incredible team consisting of Andy, Matt, and Connie. SUP Experience. I was in a group of 5 at one of Hatt Adventures' SUP experience sessions. I had never tried SUP'ing before so was a bit unsure what to expect but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Full marks to our instructor Kyle Holman who delivered an entertaining and instructive session, and the rest of the team for being so fun and helpful. Thoroughly recommended... Thanks again!

Great value for Kayaking What a great company, very well organised and friendly. Had a great hour in a kayak in the sea right by their shop, 4 of us went out 3 in kayaks, 1 on a paddleboard. Great value.

Great kayak trip Really enjoyed kayaking on the middle Ouse trip. Easy parking at the start, although it's a one way trip so there's a bit of faffing with the vehicle shuttle. Helpful instructor/guide (Matt) got us going on the water with minimal fuss. Lovely kayak down the river with beautiful, varied scenery. Getting out of the water at the finish was interesting but Matt managed it well with his unfailing enthusiasm. Would gladly do it again - or one of the other river routes in Sussex.

Abseil - Spinnaker Tower Flying Solo I was terrified! BUT Ollie made it very easy for me climbing out of the Tower. It just had to be done - or Flying Solo Charity would miss out!! If I can do it at 71, anyone can. It certainly was an experience.

“Highly” recommended at 100 metres up! I took part in a charity abseil down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth a couple of weeks ago and cannot recommend these guys highly enough. They put us at ease from the beginning and were very thorough checking the equipment both at the bottom and the top. Once out on the platform their instructions were very clear and strangely I didn’t feel nervous at all because I felt safe and in control. All five of us had a great experience. Thank you for your friendly professionalism throughout. This has encouraged me to check out their other experiences.
